Star Cameron enjoys Cats' AFL premiership

Within 12 hours, Geelong star Jeremy Cameron went from holding the premiership cup afloat on the MCG to wrangling a cow to reclaim his AFL medallion.

The ace Cats forward celebrated his first flag in style, partying all night and turning out for the club's family day after 30 minutes of sleep.

Cameron had his premiership medal around his neck on Sunday but revealed he came close to losing it during some late-night celebratory chaos at his property.

Via his Instagram page, the 29-year-old captured the moment he placed his medal around a cow's neck.

"I don't know who actually came up with the idea, we thought it was funny at the time but the cow actually got out of the pen and went into the open paddock and that's when things got a bit funny," Cameron told reporters on Sunday.

"I had enough mates there to wrangle it up."

Cameron said some of his cows only arrived at his farm late on Friday night.

"My mate brought the cows over from home at Dartmoor (in western Victoria), and he said he'd arrive at 7pm the night before the grand final," Cameron said.

"He calls me at 9pm saying 'I'm 10 minutes away but I've just missed the turn and I've tried to turn around and I've got bogged'.

"I've got a grand final tomorrow and I don't really want to be pulling my mate out of the bog.

"But I had to, and I got a good night's sleep in the end and the rest is history but the cows have caused a bit of drama."

Cameron booted two goals in the Cats' 81-point grand final mauling of Sydney.

His trade to Geelong at the end of 2020 has already been a roaring success for club and player after the Cats gave up a record three first-round draft picks to GWS for his services.

The 29-year-old kicked the Giants' first goal of the 2019 decider, before GWS were ultimately blown away by Richmond.

After getting a taste of grand final day, Cameron was desperate for more.

"From that day when I was Giants player I wanted to get back to a grand final and give it another shot," he told reporters on Saturday night.

"Waking up this morning was a completely different feeling (to 2019).

"I felt like we had a perfect opportunity to give it a great crack and win it so to do that it's pretty special."

Cameron was troubled by hamstring issues in his first season at Geelong but he finished his second with 65 goals and a premiership medallion.

The left-footed sharpshooter paid tribute to Geelong's culture and leadership.

"I've only been here for two years but what they've been able to do for a long time before that is incredible," Cameron said.

"I knew they (Geelong) were old before I came here, but I also knew they've got players that just want to win.

"It's such a special place when it all comes together."
