Stanley Tucci regularly shares his unwavering enthusiasm for all things gastronomical from his London kitchen.
The Academy Award nominee, who demonstrates his culinary passions via CNN's The Searching For Italy, often shares favorite recipes on Instagram – offering fans a look inside his kitchen. And, of course, it's a treat for food and design lovers alike.
The space offers much to be admired: from its sleek marble countertops to white backsplash to the gray-blue cabinetry. It is the latter – specifically Stanley's kitchen color ideas – that hogs the limelight.
'Everyone keeps asking what color the kitchen is,' says Stanley's wife, Felicity Blunt, in the footage below. 'It’s a Farrow & Ball Down Pipe,' the actor responds.
'[It's] the answer to the question a lot of you have been asking for a long time,' Stanley says of his gray kitchen – and we'd expect nothing less than this Farrow & Ball classic.
As an already iconic shade – it is hard to categorize a hue such as Down Pipe as one that sits among 'color trends'. However, the way in which Stanley uses this shade is on trend, according to those in the know.
Kitchen designer Tom Howley notes that gray shades continue to remain popular, following a notably sharp rise in recent years.
‘Once upon a time, most kitchens were either painted white or were finished in natural wood. Now, kitchens are integral to the interior design of our homes, often influencing the style story in the rest of the property,' Tom says.
'Kitchens are evolving as large, multifunctional spaces where the whole family gathers to eat, socialize and relax. Our design tastes influence the whole space, and as we are becoming bolder with our choices, dark kitchen designs are now taking center stage.’
Experimenting with this kitchen trend doesn't mean we need to overpower our space with deep tones. Instead, we can follow Stanley's lead and play with dark gray-blue pockets on our cabinetry while keeping the rest of our room neutral.
And, to incorporate color further, Stanley accessorizes with a selection of Le Creuset Dutch ovens – seen on the Down Pipe-painted open-shelving behind the actor. You can shop for the exact Dutch oven below.
It seems Stanley's kitchen is a trove of Farrow & Ball and Le Creuset favorites, and honestly, we expected nothing less.
