Stan Kroenke is enjoying life as a sports team owner.
He watched his Denver Nuggets take a 2-1 lead in their maiden NBA Finals appearance when they beat Miami Heat on Thursday. Colorado Avalanche won the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup last year and the Los Angeles Rams were victorious in the 2022 Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are all set up for a tilt at the Premier League again after finishing second last season with a huge summer transfer window coming up where their main target is the England star Declan Rice from West Ham United. The Gunners are back in the Champions League and looking to re-establish themselves as one of the Premier League's top teams.
In an interview with the website Sportico, sports consultant Marc Ganis has drawn comparisons with the Kraft family, who own the New England Patriots. Since 1994, when Robert Kraft bought the Patriots for $172 million, the club has won six Super Bowls and moved into the Gillette Stadium, which has now pushed the club's value up to $5.9bn as the NFL continues to grow.
Kraft has been aided by his son, Jonathan, who has been an integral part of the operation. "The Krafts have been the gold standard for team ownership," Ganis, who has known Kroenke for almost three decades, said.
"I would argue that a major part of that is because it's actually two people in Bob and Jonathan Kraft. "Now you have that with Stan and Josh Kroenke."
Josh, a former college basketball captain at Missouri, has played a pivotal role in growing the teams in Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. Indeed, having been on the board at Arsenal since 2013, the club announced that he had been made a co-chair back in March after a restructuring of the boardroom.
He is also president of the Nuggets and Avalanche.
