'Stale' Strictly facing 'major shake-up' after 2022 series ends

Hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing could see some changes next year, if bookmakers' odds are correct. The 20th series of the programme is entering its seventh week with 10 celebrities still in contention to win the Glitterball Trophy.

Last weekend, EastEnders star James Bye became the latest contestant to leave the competition, joining Jayde Adams, Matt Goss, Richie Anderson and Kaye Adams in the eliminated category. At present, Countryfile presenter Hamza Yassin is the favourite to win.

However, the current series has faced criticism from viewers who are getting "bored" with the show, the Express reports. It is unlikely that the show will be axed by the BBC, but many think there will be a bit of a shake-up next year in an attempt to freshen it up.

According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, the odds of head judge Shirley Ballas being replaced in 2023 are at 4/1. Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told the Express: "We could be set for a sensational Strictly shake-up next series, with Shirley Ballas the latest name likely to be sent packing."

Meanwhile, there are also odds of 20/1 for the show to be axed after the current series. Alex said: "Strictly remains a hugely popular show with the British public and while some may think the format’s gone stale, we'd be amazed if it gets canned in the next 12 months. It's more likely we'll see a change to the judging panel for the 21st series."

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight (November 5) at 7pm on BBC One. The week seven results show will air at 7.15pm tomorrow.
