Fans of the hit Netflix show Squid Game will now be able to play it for real in Newcastle city centre.
Stags and hens on the lookout for a memorable experience will be able to take on the "bonkers" experience that's said to be the first of its kind in the UK. Just like the TV show, groups compete to be the last stag or hen standing, by taking part in the nerve-shredding challenges featured throughout the series.
Groups will be able to play the show's six games with those who fail the tasks ‘shot’ with Nerf guns by Squid Game's terrifying masked guards.
Events firm Purple Tiger is behind the Squid Game experience, taking place at Swarley's in the Bigg Market. It will see revellers spend 90 minutes tackling challenges like Red Light, Green Light, and ‘Sugar Honeycombs’ – while the gun-wielding guards loom over to add an extra layer of tension.
Players even get to don the iconic green and white t-shirts worn by the cast of the South Korean series as they take part.
“As fans of the show, we thought it would be fun to put some games together so everyone could experience the thrill of playing it,” said Gary Hodgson, director of Purple Tiger.
“We’ve loved watching everyone’s reaction when playing the games – although nobody has yet to survive them all, so hopefully, we will have our first winner soon!”
Gateshead stag and hen party organiser Last Night of Freedom, said they have seen huge demand from groups wanting to try the Squid Game experience and are now taking bookings for the head of the 2023 wedding season.
Matt Mavir, managing director, said: "It seems like everyone watched Squid Games, so we were confident there would be an audience for this, but demand has been through the roof. The feedback has been exceptional.
"Groups have had a great time and a proper laugh."
