Staggering transfer value of Liverpool squad revealed as Mohamed Salah leads the way

Liverpool are well on their way to continuing the evolution of their squad under Jurgen Klopp.

Fabio Carvalho was first to arrive through the doors at Anfield this summer, followed by Benfica striker Darwin Nunez. It is expected the Uruguayan's transfer fee will exceed the club-record £75m the Reds paid to secure the services of Virgil van Dijk once add-ons in the contract of the 22-year-old are triggered.

Jurgen Klopp's side could well raise funds from within the squad to offset this significant outlay, with a handful of fringe players already attracting transfer interest from other clubs. The departures of Divock Origi, Loris Karius, Sheyi Ojo and Ben Woodburn were confirmed by the club last week, with Academy prospects Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Luis Longstaff and Sean Wilson also released.
