A month-long strike by bus drivers employed by Stagecoach West is set to majorly impact bus services in and around Bristol next month. From Thursday, March 10 until Saturday, April 9, over 380 drivers will embark on a month-long strike in a dispute over chronic low pay.
The strike action, which was overwhelmingly backed by drivers, who are members of Unite the union, will mostly impact services in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, but a number of Bristol services will be affected too. It is planned to coincide with the Cheltenham Festival and cause considerable disruption to the event.
Stagecoach has the contract in place to take festival-goers to and from the racecourse and is therefore expected to cause chaos during the event. Meanwhile, in Bristol, there are 13 routes affected, plus a further two in North Somerset and seven school services.
