A 36-year-old woman accused of giving strong prescription medication to a teenage boy who later died of a "toxic brain injury" has been denied bail.

Stacie Dutaillis is accused of supplying opioids to six children aged between 12 and 16, including the 15-year-old, who was found unresponsive at a Mackay home in September.

All of the children were taken to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment, but the teenager died a day later.

Mackay detectives arrested the woman in Brisbane yesterday, and she was charged with a number of offences including manslaughter.

"Police will allege that ... the group of children were at the woman's home, they were there socialising and during the course of [the] night the woman showed the children pain medication and told them if they took [it] they could get high," Detective Senior Sergeant Emma Novosel said.

"We'll allege that she has ingested or taken some of that medication as well."

Police allege the woman had been lawfully obtaining the opioid pain medication since May last year, and had been stockpiling it.

The incident happened at an address in North Mackay.  (ABC Tropical North: Angel Parsons)

It is also alleged the 15-year-old who lost his life had been unwell for a number of hours before help was called.

"We'll allege that the young man who was found unresponsive had woken up throughout the night and was vomiting and unwell. He'd been showered and placed back to bed," Detective Senior Sergeant Novosel said.

"And then later in the early hours of the morning, one of the young boys, young men, located him unresponsive and triple-0 was phoned by one of the other kids."

Ms Dutaillis is also facing a grievous bodily harm charge and two counts each of negligent acts causing harm and supplying medicines.

Accused has 'unflattering' criminal history, court hears

During a bail hearing this morning where she appeared, the Brisbane Magistrates Court heard at the time of the boy's death, the woman allegedly "manipulated" the other children into giving police a "fictitious version" of what happened.

The court heard the accused had an "unflattering" criminal history and a "sustained disregard to court orders", due to failing to appear in court on several occasions.

A magistrate refused her bail, telling the court she was an unacceptable risk of reoffending and interfering with witnesses.

The matter was adjourned and will return to court in Mackay in June.
