Stacey Solomon found herself having to respond after it was suggested she had left her one-year-old daughter to 'fend for herself'. The TV star is known for showing off her crafty side on Instagram and earlier this week vowed to show off more of her latest DIY efforts.
And so on Thursday (October 13) Stacey, 33, took to Instagram to share a glimpse inside her stunning £1.2m home, adorably named Pickle Cottage, how she had turned the breakfast bar in her kitchen into an autumnal display with orange and red flowers and miniature pumpkin decorations.
But the criticism came after Stacey joked she had left her skeleton Halloween decorations, which she named Phill and Grant, in charge of her four children. Sharing a picture of one of the skeletons among other Halloween props, Stacey quipped that it had prepared breakfast for her family while she was away.
"Good morning. I was up & out in the darkness this morning before anyone woke up," she wrote alongside the snap. "I have been for the last few days so I’ve left Phill & Grant (the skeletons) in charge." The Loose Women star continued: "Doing some creepy version of Halloween elf on the shelf to cheer the kids up while I'm not there.”
"Today Grant has organised the breakfast bowls & is waiting for everyone to come down for their cereal." But in a follow-up video, Stacey was forced to clarify that her husband Joe Swash had been at home looking after the kids while she was away. It came after receiving a message saying her previous post was "not a good look”.
The message, sent by an unknown social media user, which Stacey screengrabbed and added to her video, read: “This is all fun and games or whatever but are you saying you just left all your kids this morning to fend for themselves? I don’t get it? Not a good look!"
In response, Stacey penned: "Some people crack me up so much. Don’t worry Phill and Grant have their NVQs and checks." She added: "Obviously Joe is at home. I just like to do little things to remind them I still exist." The mum-of-four also filmed a response, which included cracking some skeleton-inspired jokes.
"Yeah, now Rose is one, I thought 'she's pretty' independent, so I thought I'd just leave her with Phil and Grant the skeletons, and she'd be absolutely fine," she sarcastically started before joking: "They're really low maintenance. They don't need feeding. They work really hard... They work themselves to the bone, some might say."
As she laughed she added: "The best thing about skeletons is that they are just dying to help. And another thing, I reckon Phil and Grant have been waiting to ask for a pay rise for ages but they just haven't got the guts."
Despite her seeing the funny side, she did add a follow-up post to her followers to explain that this is only a small section of the messages she receives as she shared a supportive note which read: "I absolutely love you! Keep being you and putting smiles on everyone's faces."
The Sort Your Life Out host also wrote: "On another note, 99% of my messages are like this and I bloody love you all... it's packing day on another episode of Sort Your Life Out and every break we get I have a little read of your messages and they make my day."
