The St Patrick's bank holiday is on a Friday this year and everyone is looking forward to the long weekend.
The theme for St Patrick's day this year is 'We are one', celebrating all people coming together in Dublin for the national holiday.
With many activities on over the weekend and on the day, there is a lot to look forward to but for last minute party planners it can be difficult to know what times you are allowed to buy alcohol on St. Patrick's day.

Alcohol can be sold from 12:30pm to 11pm on regular Sundays and because St. Patrick's day is a bank holiday the times that you can buy alcohol on this day are similar: from 12:30pm to 10pm.
This rule applies to both off licenses and supermarkets selling alcohol. However there will a voluntary ban on selling alcohol in off-licences in the city centre until 4pm on St Patrick's Day. The ban will be in place in the area between Parnell Square and St Stephen's Green although pubs in this area have said they will continue to serve alcohol during this time.
Minimum unit pricing came into affect on January 4 last year which has increased the prices of alcoholic drinks in pubs and in supermarkets. In Ireland one standard drink has 10 grams of alcohol in it meaning that drinks with more alcohol in them such as spirits are likely to cost more than before the act came into effect.
