St Patrick's Day weather in Dublin, Cork and every other county as Met Eireann update forecast

Hundreds of thousands of Irish and tourists will flock to the streets in a sea of green to celebrate St Patrick's Day events and festivities to mark the country's biggest day in its cultural calendar.

Parades will begin marching early this morning across the length and breadth of the country.

If you are planning on heading to a local parade or any other celebratory event, here is Met Éireann's a county by county weather forecast for the day.

Dublin, Kilkenny, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow

The morning of St Patrick's day will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle.

Brightening up in the afternoon with sunny spells and showers. There will be decent dry intervals too and the evening will be mainly dry.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with mostly moderate south to southeast winds, decreasing light later.

Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford

St Patrick's day will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle through the morning followed by brighter intervals and showers in the afternoon. Some of the showers will be heavy.

There will be some drier periods in the east during the evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with mostly moderate south to southeast winds, decreasing light later.

Scattered showers will continue into the night, mostly in the west Munster, but most will die out.

Galway, Mayo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo:

The day will start off mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, however it will brighten up with sunny spells and showers developing.

The showers will be heavy and prolonged at times during the afternoon and evening with isolated thunderstorms possible.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in mostly moderate south to southeast winds, decreasing light later.

Scattered showers will continue later into the night for a period, before dying out and restarting in the morning.

Donegal, Derry, Down, Antrim, Tyrone, Armagh, Fermanagh, Cavan, Monaghan:

The day will start off mostly dry in these nine counties.

However, cloud and rain will spread northwards through the morning to all areas. Some brighter intervals and showers through the afternoon and evening.

Some of the showers will be heavy or prolonged. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with mostly moderate south to southeast winds, decreasing light later.
