Motherwell boss Graham Alexander says last weekend's 4-2 win over St Mirren has given his side a boost, but their job is only half-done as they head into today's do-or-die clash at Livingston.
Victory at Almondvale will guarantee Motherwell a top-six finish this season and Alexander insists preparation for the clash is no different to any other.
But he says that the win over Saints - Motherwell's first in the league this year - has given everybody a lift ahead of the trip to West Lothian.
Eamonn Brophy's opener was quickly overturned by goals from Sean Goss and Connor Shields, before St Mirren levelled through Conor McCarthy.
But second-half strikes from Dean Cornelius and a Richard Tait own-goal gave Motherwell a much-needed three points, going into today's decider.
Alexander said: "It was a boost, we can't lie. We've had a difficult spell in the season but, like we were saying all the way through that, the games were very tight.
"We were still in a very good, competitive position in the league table, but we had to break that run at some point.
"I had confidence in the way the players had trained that week, how they were in the changing room. I could see the focus and feel the focus, going into it.
"It could have been damaged, after conceding the first goal, but the response from the team was excellent, and I thought came from the way they had trained during that week.
"They had determination to understand that the point in the season was now, we didn't have time to waste, and we took advantage of that.
"But the job is only half-done. We had to get as many points out of those two games. We did well in the first game, but we still have to get points from this game."
Alexander added: "I think we won a game last week where we made the fine margins go our way, and I thought we deserved the win.
"The start wasn't ideal but the players again showed great character and resilience to take the lead back, lose it, and take it back again. The emotional side of the game last week was controlled really well from our players, which was great, and gives me confidence they'll do that again tomorrow.
"You learn by your experiences, from difficult moments, and I think the players have done that over the course of the season.
"One game doesn't signify form, form is over several games, so we have to focus on what we did last week and make sure we have the same approach to the game as a whole.
"We'll approach it the same as we have done all season, really. We don't have games with different significance, we want to win every game we go into.
"We have to focus on how we try and beat Livingston - that is our only job tomorrow, we can't affect anything else anywhere else, or any other game, it's about the 90 minutes at Livingston tomorrow."
