Former Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson is the reported frontrunner to take the vacant boss position at Scottish Premiership club St Mirren.
The Northern Irishman is currently boss at Morecambe in England's League One after leaving Motherwell in December 2020.
Saints are hunting a new manager after Jim Goodwin left them last week to take up the post at Aberdeen following Stephen Glass' sacking.,
Robinson is under contract at Morecambe but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says St Mirren have an 'agreement in place' after a 'substantial compensation fee' was paid to the League One side currently battling relegation.
They will now enter contract discussions.
After initially joining the Fir Park club as assistant manager to Ian Baraclough then as first-team coach to Mark McGhee, Robinson became boss in 2017.
He guided Motherwell to safety in his first term, secured two cup finals in an excellent maiden full season while also accumulating millions in players sales through youth academy promotion and recruitment.
