St Mirren legend's face emblazoned on new car as Legacy Comps steps up a gear

It has been a drive to success for Legacy Comps Prize Bonanza as St Mirren’s ambassador reveals a new company car with an inspiring design.

Tony Fitzpatrick has been drawing numbers for the people entering competitions on the Legacy Comps website recently – but it was he who was in winning mode as his new company car was revealed.

The former CEO at St Mirren started the business only nine months ago but since then it has grown in popularity with people entering from as far away as Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The live show on Wednesday night, which took place at Gormac Coachworks in Renfrew, featured special guest Lorraine Cameron, the Provost of Renfrewshire.

The 21st show saw people win prizes such as a £1,000, £250, food vouchers, an outdoor pizza oven and a trip to watch Newcastle United play Arsenal.

The unveiling of the car was a milestone moment for Tony and his friend, Jed McCabe, who admitted that the business has come a long way in such a short space of time thanks to the people who enter the draw.

And if having a bright yellow car didn’t make it stand out enough, there will be a familiar face on both sides of the vehicle that the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire will recognise – Fitzy himself.

Tony commented: “Another big step forward for us and getting it out there. There are that many scams out there and people have been asking me if this is legit so this puts the stamp on it.

“We can only thank the community of Renfrewshire for making this happen for us. The proceeds that we receive all go back into the area and that is what makes it so special.

“The car is simply fantastic and thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.”

Jed also thanked Gormac Coachworks and Jim Sneddon at Sneddon Signs who helped bring the car to life through spray paint, bodywork and decal; as well as the students at West College Scotland for entering the competition to design the car with winner Evelyn Crow now able to see her work out and about in public.

Provost Cameron highlighted the great work that Legacy Comps do for the community and said that she loves the design of the car.

She added: “There is nothing like it in Renfrewshire. In fact, I don’t think there is anything like it anywhere that I have heard of.

“What I love about it is that anyone can buy a ticket, no matter where you are, down in England, Australia or just here in Renfrewshire. But the benefits all remain in the area and that benefits the Renfrewshire
people.”

The unveiling event took place at Gormac Coachworks, on Thomson Street in Renfrew.

The business, founded in the early 1970s, is still standing in the same place to this day and is now run by the third generation of the family, Graham McIntyre.

He said that working on the car was a “privilege” as the former St Mirren player and manager is a legend in the area.

Graham had a helping hand from some apprentices at the West College Scotland who will be able to fill their portfolio with live project work. To find out more, visit legacycomps.com
