Ethan Erhahon is confident St Mirren can keep their promising season heading in the right direction at Easter Road.
The Buddies travel to Edinburgh tomorrow looking to build on their impressive start – having won six of their opening 11 Premiership clashes.
Despite a perception that Stephen Robinson’s counter-attacking style would suit the Buddies better away from home, the majority of Saints’ points have been collected at the SMiSA Stadium.
Erhahon hopes the Paisley club can change all that tomorrow afternoon, especially given the club didn’t suffer a single loss in Leith last season.
Joe Shaughnessy’s dramatic late leveller sealed a point in their first trip to the green side of the capital, with playmaker Connor Ronan’s exquisite finish earning a 1-0 win in February earlier this year.
Speaking exclusively to Renfrewshire Live Sport, Erhahon said: “We know the quality Hibs have and we know it’ll be tough.
“But Easter Road has been a good place for us in recent years. We go there with no fear.
“As a group we’re confident we can hurt teams and our system sometimes suits playing away from home, even though our home record is so strong.
“We’re joint-top in terms of home points so far this season. Hopefully we can start picking up more on the road too.
“When you go to places like Hibs and Hearts, you need to frustrate the crowd.
“If the away team settles into the game and gets on the ball, the home crowd can get on to their own players.
“Even as a supporter myself, you know what it’s like when the atmosphere changes at these big stadiums.
“Hopefully we can do that in Edinburgh.”
One Hibs player Erhahon wishes he would have been facing tomorrow afternoon was former team-mate and ex-St Mirren captain Kyle Magennis. The midfielder picked up two yellow cards in his last outing against St Johnstone, ruling him out of a reunion with his former club this weekend.
Erhahon insists he would have liked to have tested his skills in the heat of a midfield battle against his former skipper.
Erhahon said: “Me and Flynny [Ryan Flynn] were talking about Kyle starting their last game and looking forward to seeing him play.
“He was doing really well too until the second yellow card. I still speak to him a lot off the pitch and we’ve got quite a few mutual
pals.
“He’s a few years older than me and when I came into the squad with him I was just a kid. He’d been made the club captain at just 21, so that was a big inspiration for me.
“It’s a shame we won’t be playing against each other this weekend.
“It would have been interesting to see who came out on top in the midfield battle.”
