In a bizarre case out of St. Louis, Missouri, a man videobombs a young couple recording their wedding proposal at a basilica in the city to confess he’s a killer and beg for forgiveness. According to reports on social media, the man is identified as Bradley Drakesmith, a St. Louis attorney.
“I’m a murderer. I need help.”
In the footage shared online, a man’s face suddenly appears on camera, confessing, “I’m a murderer. I need help. I killed plenty of people.” Thought it’s difficult to make out, a woman’s voice is heard off camera saying “Oh my god, Bradley.”
The man, appearing agitated, then stands as the off-camera voice continues to speak with him, saying “C’mon `coz,” as if trying to calm him down and get him to leave.
Another voice seems to say “move to the side,” before the man kneels again and says, “Please forgive me for my sins. I’m sorry for hurting other people. I do not want to hurt another human being as long as I live.” He goes on, “I have asked you for forgiveness, please help me.”
Who is Bradley Drakesmith?
According to a social media comment from someone who says Drakesmith is their neighbor, Drakesmith has disappeared. A LinkedIn page shows an attorney named Bradley Drakesmith, who, based on the profile picture, looks similar to the man in the couple’s footage. Comments on Bradley Drakesmith’s Facebook page reference the viral proposal confession, though there’s no indication that Drakesmith is missing. Drakesmith last posted on Facebook on October 26.
The man may have been having a mental break, on substances, or, if it is Drakesmith, potentially amid a crisis of conscience for defending potential killers in his practice as a criminal defense attorney.
At the time of this writing, law enforcement has issued no official statement about the videobombing situation or any deaths in the city possibly linked to Drakesmith. The St. Louis media have also not reported on the situation.
A lack of official reporting or police response has left many wondering if the footage might be fake, either staged or AI. The couple who shared the clip have spoken on social media, insisting it’s real.
A Reddit comment noted, “It’s definitely not fake. The couple was upset their proposal video got ruined, the guy said he went to physical therapy to be able to get down on one knee. And Bradley seems mentally unwell in the video. The couple said they gave the video to the police.” Until official confirmation, however, the video cannot be verified.
