Eetu Vertainen is reflecting on a productive December after netting an award double.
The Finnish forward, on loan at Linfield from St Johnstone, bagged both the Dream Spanish Homes Player of the Month award and the NIFWA Goal of the Month prize.
Vertainen, who recently returned to Scotland for a cup clash against Kelty Hearts, netted five goals in December.
That included a late winner against Glentoran on Boxing Day - selected as the finest goal.
The 23-year-old, who is on a season-long loan at Linfield, said: “It was a great month for me but also for the team. I think we won every game, so everyone was pleased.
“It was a great way to end the year, particularly after a slow start to the season. I’m delighted to win this award.
“It was very special to get this recognition from the Football Writers’ to be named Player of the Month and to win Goal of the Month.”
On his Boxing Day heroics, Vertainen added: “Scoring against the Glens on Boxing Day was amazing. It was a special goal, but I was just happy that I was able to help my team win the game.
“After a slow start we are doing very well in the league now.”
