St Johnstone have opened talks with David Wotherspoon over a new contract.
The midfielder, who has won three pieces of major silverware with the club he supported as a kid, is currently contracted until the end of this season.
Wotherspoon (32) remains on a high after proudly earning selection and competing in the World Cup for Canada at the end of last year.
Manager Callum Davidson said the former Perth High student is a “key part” of Saints’ squad and confirmed discussions are taking place in relation to his future at McDiarmid Park.
“There is dialogue,” Davidson said.
“David’s a key part of our squad and team. A new contract is definitely something we’re talking about.
“We’ll put in our best offer.”
