A fire has broken out at a shopping centre in Wales as customers and staff evacuate the building in the city of Cardiff.
Smoke was seen in the concourse near the old Debenhams store in the St David's complex at around 2pm.
The doors to the centre have been cordoned off and there are a large number of fire crews outside.
One eyewitness told Wales Online: "The centre was evacuated at around 2pm. The smoke was near Debenhams, few workers here who have been evacuated said it looked like it was coming from Debenhams.
"The Hayes is really busy of people evacuated and there’s an alarm going off."
The South Wales Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "At approximately 1:08pm on Wednesday the 26th of January, 2022, we received reports of a fire at a premises in St David’s Dewi Sant Shopping Centre, Cardiff.

"An evacuation is currently in progress as a safety precaution whilst crews ventilate the area due to an accumulation of smoke.
Firefighters are working alongside South Wales Police and staff from St David’s Dewi Sant Shopping Centre to ensure the area is made safe.
It is thought that four fire trucks initially responded to the incident, which took place at Cardiff's biggest shopping centre.
Wales Online confirmed that the store has now reopened for staff, but shoppers are still being asked to remain outside.
The EVACCardiff Twitter account said the fire service are "scaling back resources" after extinguishing the blaze.

"The Facilities Management are on site and will decide when St1 will reopen."
