SSKM Hospital Kolkata treats rare disease that Salman Khan once had

KOLKATA: SSKM Hospital has introduced treatment for trigeminal neuralgia — a facial nerve disorder which causes acute pain with burning sensation in the face and had once afflicted Bollywood star Salman Khan — through radio-frequency ablation procedure.

The physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) department of SSKM successfully conducted the procedure — a fluoroscopic guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) — on a 67-year old patient last month. The procedure was conducted by PMR head of the department Rajesh Pramanik and his team.
