SSE Energy customers trying to submit their meter reading have been issued an update.
The energy firm has prepared for a surge of customers who are flocking to the site to submit their meter readings today.
September 30 marks 'meter reading day' as it's the last day people can enter their meter readings before the new price cap comes into force.
The new price cap pushes energy rates to a daily charge of 28p gas and 46p electric and unit rates will be increased to 10p/kWh for gas, and 34p/kWh for electric. This will lead to the average household yearly bill being £2,500.

Martin Lewis has urged people to input their meter reading this week, renaming it 'meter reading week', to avoid a surge of customers crashing websites like what happened in April earlier this year. However, SEE Energy has reported a high volume of customers logging on today (Friday) to submit their energy meter readings and set up a waiting room to ensure people could access the site.
Taking to Twitter, SSE wrote: "We’re currently experiencing high volumes of website traffic. You can submit your meter reading via WhatsApp instead: https://bit.ly/SSEWhatsApp.
"You can also submit using this form: https://bit.ly/SSEMeterRead.
"Have a smart meter or on Pay As You Go? You don't need to send a read."

Those on smart prepayment meters, the discount will be added directly to your smart meter in the first week of each month and if you have a traditional meter, you’ll get a voucher from your supplier via text message, email or post each month. each month. These can be redeemed at paypoints.
If you pay on receipt of bill, you will have a credit added to your account in the first week of the month. You do not need to apply, or pay it back and it is automatically being issued by your energy provider.
