Sri Lanka pacers Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka ruled out of ODIs against India

NEW DELHI: Before the three-match ODI series against India, Sri Lanka was dealt a severe setback when pacers Dilshan Madushanka and Matheesha Pathirana were ruled out due to injuries.

On Friday, the opening one-day match will take place at Colombo's RPSC Stadium.

"Madushanka suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury on his left leg during the team's fielding practice" the Sri Lanka Cricket announced in a statement on Thursday, as per PTI.

"Pathirana has suffered a mild sprain on his right shoulder while diving to take a catch during the Third T20 match vs. India," the statement added.

In Tuesday's third Twenty20 International in Pallekele, Pathirana did not bowl.

Eshan Malinga and Mohammed Shiraz have been called up by the hosts to take the place of the injured players.

As standbys, Kusal Janith, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Pramod Madushan have been added to the team.
