Tottenham Hotspur have released their new kit for the 2023/2024 season, and the women's team will wear blue shorts in a huge step forward for them.
They follow several other clubs and the Lionesses in moving away from wearing white shorts in a movement companies such as Nike are taking on board after listening to player feedback.
A statement from the club said: "Following player feedback and the wider move away from white shorts by female athletes across sport, the Club and Nike will support our Women’s team in wearing alternate blue shorts with our new Home Kit to create the best possible environment for comfort and performance during the menstrual cycle."
However the blue shorts will not be available to purchase.
Marking the release of the kit to purchase, the Home Kit launch campaign, A Modern Classic, presents the new Kit through the release of 'Lilywhite Room' – with a film featuring members of the Men’s and Women’s teams and the fans.
Back in October, Man City were the highest profile WSL club to confirm they had ditched white shorts after players had once again raised concerns about their practicality when players are on their period.
The Lionesses' latest kit is the newest international side to introduce navy shorts as part of the home and away kits. Beth Mead said during the Euros last year that players had given feedback to Nike questioning the white shorts.
The men's kit will be debuted against West Ham United in Perth on 18 July – the opening match of their Asia-Pacific Tour 2023.
