Spurs rookie Jeremy Sochan did his best Dennis Rodman impression with one-handed free throw

If the similarities between San Antonio Spurs rookie Jeremy Sochan and NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman weren’t obvious enough, the Spurs rookie is doing his best to keep them coming.

But while the brightly dyed hair is one thing, attempting a one-handed free throw in a real NBA game is a new level of Rodman-esque chutzpah. But that’s exactly what Sochan did Monday night, drawing new comparisons to the “Worm,” who did the same thing as a Spur in the mid-90s.

Sochan only made one of his four free throw attempts in the game against the Rockets, but it was worth a try for the 43% free throw shooter.

The similarities don’t end there.

Rodman was also a terrible free throw shooter

For his career, Rodman made 58% of his free throws, which is significantly better than where Sochan is but still bad.

It made for an adventure every time he was fouled.

Rodman also wore No. 10 for the Spurs

Rodman might be best known for his No. 91 on the Bulls because of how infrequent that number is used, but he kept his No. 10 from the Pistons after being traded to the Spurs.

Later in his career, he sported Nos. 73 and 70 for the Lakers and Mavericks.

That's where the comparisons end...for now

Sochan can end up being a solid player in the NBA, but projecting Rodman-level production would be unfair.

As a rookie, Rodman was a bench player who received nine fewer minutes per game than Sochan and still averaged five more points and five more rebounds per 100 possessions, with significantly better offensive and defensive ratings.

He was 25 years old, though. Sochan is just 19. So there’s still plenty of time for growth. And Twitter couldn’t pass up on a good opportunity to talk about Rodman.
