Springholm Nursery aims to be up and running from its new home by the end of the month.
A dispute with the Springholm Memorial Hall committee meant it had to search for a new base, a development the parent-run group described as coming as “a great shock to staff, parents and the local communities”.
But a new home has now been found at Kirkpatrick Durham Village Hall, meaning it can continue offering early learning and childcare for the 12 children currently on the role.
In a statement, the group said: “After hours of telephone calls, emails, meetings and fantastic support from the village communities, we can announce that we will indeed continue to operate as Springholm Nursery but from a different location in Kirkpatrick Durham Village Hall.
“This will offer new opportunities for outdoor learning in and around the village and in the wider community but is also close enough for us to return to Springholm village to continue with our strong partnership with Springholm Primary and our links with the community.
“Our intergenerational groups for senior citizens and parents, babies and toddlers will continue when we are settled.
“As parents are now looking at settings for their children from August, we thought it was essential for everyone to know that we are continuing our ELC provision.
“We were determined to continue and we would like to thank the many people who have been involved to make this possible.”
