Spring smells good on you: 11 must-have new season scents

The wisteria is out and I’ve thrown open the windows at least twice, which means it’s got to be time for a spring scent shake-up. But as we shut the door on the hibernation months, remember your olfactory adjustments need not be limited to traditional fragrance form. Scent your body, hair, home and even your clothes for a comprehensive 360-degree reboot and pure joy. What fun!

1. Diptyque Café classic candle

Redesigned for the first time in the brand’s history, now refillable and with five new scents, including this, my favourite. It’s possibly the perfect coffee candle: milky-soft with just enough zing. (£63, diptyque.com)

2. Zara Basilicum reed diffuser

Beautifully green, fresh and herby, with lemon, eucalyptus, mint and basil, this generous half-litre diffuser is delicious and offers great bang for your hard-earned buck. (£49.99, zara.com)

3. Prada Infusion Rhubarbe

Sales of Prada perfume have soared since the release of a certain film. If you plan to follow suit, I recommend the brand’s spectacular Infusion range. This new rhubarb iteration is a spring dream. (£152 for 100ml, boots.com)

4. Infiniment Coty encore une fois l’osmium

For an old money moment, try this elegant blend of vanilla and amber, which dries down to a clean, creamy, skin-like treat. (£250, libertylondon.com)

5. Nancy Meiland Lupin Meadow hand wash

Take note — perfumer Nancy Meiland’s Lupin Meadow eau de parfum, an evocation of a sun-dappled meadow with lavender, lupin and rosemary, comes in this equally delicious, but more affordable form. (£25, nancymeiland.com)

6. Fable & Mane Jaipur Rose hair and body fragrance mist

I’m very taken with this subtly spiced hair and body mist, featuring midnight rose damascena, saffron, incense and amber, inspired by the palaces of Jaipur. (£27, sephora.co.uk)

7. Dries Van Noten basil and hinoki liquid soap

Few things are more chic than the Dries beauty collection, so it’s fabulous news that we can now bathe in the stuff too. This uplifting treat is just what your morning wash needs. (£65, driesvannoten.com)

8. Mabelle O’Rama Lunar Dust

From the London-based Lebanese-British perfumer comes a masterclass in quiet, clean perfumery inspired by the moon’s powdery glow. Feeling floaty, otherworldly and angelic? This slice of heaven is for you. (£115 for 50ml, mabelleorama.com)

9. Hermès Musc Pallida eau de parfum

With iris pallida, one of the perfume industry’s most precious materials, plus soft musk, this investment scent is elegant, powdery perfection.  (£300 for 100ml, hermes.com)

10. Farina 1709 candle

Johann Maria Farina created the world’s first eau de cologne in 1709, writing: “I have found a fragrance that reminds me of an Italian spring…” Worn by Queen Victoria, Marlene Dietrich and more, it’s now reimagined as a candle. Yes! (65.54 euros, farina1709.com)

11. DedCool Dedtergent milk

The clean, creamy, fluffy laundry smell you’ve been waiting for, from cult Californian fragrance brand DedCool. Air dry your clothes outside on the line, then nuzzle in… (£28 for 946ml, spacenk.com )
