Spotify delete 113 Joe Rogan podcasts after clip resurfaces of him saying 'n-word'

Spotify has taken down 113 episodes of the Joe Rogan Experience after an old clip of him using the 'n-word' resurfaced.

Rogan, 54, has an exclusive lucrative $100 million deal with the streaming giant and has offered his “sincere and humble apologies” about the footage emerged.

The comedian who is known for rejecting 'political correctness' and 'cancel culture', previously faced backlash for sharing coronavirus misinformation on his podcast, seeing many campaign for his Spotify deal to be cancelled.

Legendary musicians Joni Mitchell and Neil Young have taken their music off the platform in protest as Spotify continues to host the controversial podcast.

The musician India Arie also announced she would leave the streaming service in protest, saying she objected to Rogan’s “language around race”.

She shared an edited compilation of clips of Rogan using the N-word more than 20 times on her Instagram account.

Last night, JRE Missing - a website which automatically tracks deleted episodes of Rogan's podcasts - announced that Spotify had removed 113 episodes.

Rogan was forced to address the compilation of resurfaced clips from his podcast, which was hosted on YouTube at the time and not Spotify, where he used the N-word more than 20 times.

Rogan addressed his use of the 'n-word' during a video he posted on his own Instagram account, saying: “I’m making this video to talk about the most regretful and shameful thing that I’ve ever had to talk about publicly.

“There’s a video that’s out, that’s a compilation of me saying the N-word. It’s a video that’s made of clips taken out of context of me of … 12 years of conversations on my podcast, and it’s all smushed together, and it looks f**kin’ horrible, even to me.

“Now I know that to most people there’s no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, never mind publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that.

“Now, I haven’t said it in years, but for a long time, when I would bring that word up, like if it would come up in conversation, instead of saying ‘the N-word’, I would just say the word.

“I thought as long as it was in context, people would understand what I was doing

In total, he says the word 24 times in 23 separate clips, which were recorded before the host left his platform on YouTube for his exclusive deal with Spotify in 2020.

The majority of his deleted Spotify episodes featured far right commentators or conspiracy theorists, including Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Owen Benjamin and Canadian writer Gavin Miles McInnes.

One of Rogan's controversial guests was Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, who appeared on the show to argue that people who are Muslim are inbred.

The MMA commentator has previously defended McInnes and the Proud Boys, a white nationalist and neo-Nazi group, in numerous episodes which have now been deleted.

Other Joe Rogan Experience episodes which are not available on the platform include Chris D'Elia, the stand-up comedian who was accused of sexual misconduct.

His episode with D'Elia which took place early into the coronavirus pandemic, saw Rogan boast about his ability to obtain COVID tests when they were not widely available and angry fans called him out.
