Iga Świątek earned her fourth Grand Slam title on Saturday, holding off Karolína Muchová 6–2, 5–7, 6–4 in the French Open final. Her third title in Roland Garros, it was also the first time she won a major title that went to three sets, as she won the previous three in straight sets.
As it seemed like Świątek was going to cruise to a win, Muchová fought back winning six of the final 10 games in the second set and taking a 2–0 lead to start the third, However, Świątek dug deep to hold off Muchová, winning the final game on a break point.
Therefore, the resulting French Open final was a classic, and fans were impressed by Świątek’s resilience throughout.

What a beautiful way to end these two weeks.
We rarely see Iga cry, so it makes it even more special to see how much this means to her
She deserves this in every way.

In the Open Era, only Monica Seles has won three titles at that age (at 18yo no less).
60% - Only Margaret Court (75%, 3/4) has won a greater percentage of Roland Garros main draws entered than Iga Swiatek in the Open Era (60%, 3/5). Landlord.#RolandGarros | @WTA @WTA_insider @rolandgarros pic.twitter.com/Qtp9gZOtag

Muchová, meanwhile, had a great showing against the No. 1 player in the world in her first major final match, showing that she belongs on this stage.
It's fun to watch Muchova scramble, it's fun to watch her attack the net, it's fun to watch her carve slices and dropshots, it's fun to watch her power on serve and forehand.

Karolina Muchová nearly had one of the truly great Slam runs: began by taking out Sakkari in the first round, came back from 2-5 30-40 in the 3rd set of her semifinal, then became the first woman to push Swiatek in a Slam final. Take a bow

Just as she was about to be rolled over in straight sets, came back out of nowhere to make this a great match.
She will be back in championship stage. #RolandGarros #Tennis #Sports pic.twitter.com/PLckrgoj64
