Frasers Group have bought the former Debenhams store on Henry Street in the city centre.
The iconic former Debenhams building in the Ilac Centre was first put on the market in August of this year with a guide price of €55million, the Irish Independent reports. The UK retail group is well-known for owning Sports Direct, House of Fraser, and designer fashion retailer Flannels.
In April 2020, approximately 1,000 Debenhams workers at 11 stores across the county were let go and the retailer's Dublin stores also closed. The purchase of the Henry Street store is the latest in the Fraser Group's expansion to Ireland.
Earlier this month, Flannels opened its first Irish store in Blanchardstown shopping centre. The store spans an impressive 40,000 sq feet, and boasts luxury brands such as Burberry, Creed, Versace, Stone Island and Tom Ford on offer.
Meanwhile, the Frasers Group is also preparing to open a new Flannels store in Cleary's Quarter on O'Connell Street next year.
