Hearts and Dundee United have Sligo Rovers goalkeeper Ed McGinty in their sights.
And there is also strong interest in the highly-regarded 22-year-old from an unnamed English Championship outfit.
But Mirror Sport understands the two Scottish Premier League rivals are the front runners and are considering summer swoops.
Dundee United are in the market for a new goalkeeper after Celtic this week snapped up their former No 1, Benjamin Siegrist, on a four-year deal.
McGinty - who was born in Scotland - is a former Ireland Under-21 international and was wanted by Hibs last year.
New Sligo Rovers boss John Russell has a fight on his hands to retain McGinty, who could be snapped up after July 1 or at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Jordan Hamilton left Sligo Rovers yesterday after just four months at the club.
The former Canada international made 13 appearances for the Bit O’Red this season, scoring twice against Drogheda United and then Shamrock Rovers.
The forward, 26, was signed by former Sligo Rovers boss Liam Buckley but won’t be part of Russell’s plans.
Bit O’Red chief executive Colin Feehily said: ”We wish to thank Jordan for his efforts during his time here with us.
“Since arriving back in February Jordan has been a pleasure to deal with and we want to wish him well for the future.”
