'Ferry fiasco': Spirit of Tasmania lease move abandoned

A push to lease a stranded Spirit of Tasmania ferry has been spectacularly scrapped as the fallout from a port "stuff-up" continues to plague the state.

The first of two $900 million Spirit replacement vessels has been docked in the Scottish town of Leith near Edinburgh since early December.
