After a full 24 hours of build up, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is finally here.
The trailer, which you can see above, shows Tom Holland's webslinger back in action and still reckoning with the events that saw the world forget Peter Parker was Spider-Man at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Yes, that is Zendaya's MJ with a new man in tow (played by Ahsoka's Eman Esfandi) and, yes, it is heartbreaking.
Perhaps more troubling in the short-term for Spider-Man is that something is very, very wrong with his powers. In one moment, we see him wake up in a web-like cocoon. But, hey, at least he finally gets organic web shooters out of it.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Spider-Man movie without Spidey swinging into battle against his iconic rogues' gallery. In one moment, Michael Mando's Scorpion showcases his new stinging strikes, while Sadie Sink's mysterious character is also shown seemingly in Peter's bedroom for reasons unknown. Might she have something to do with the unseen threat teased throughout the trailer?
That's without even mentioning both Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, both of whom are likely to have a considerable presence in the fourth Spider-Man movie. And are those members of the Hand we spy?
Sony Pictures had opted for a slightly different rollout strategy for its first official Brand New Day trailer (an earlier version was leaked back in December).
Instead of posting teasers, Sony handed the reins over to Spidey-mad fans, each of them unveiling two seconds' worth of footage from the new trailer. We've been covering them the whole way on our Spider-Man: Brand New Day live blog if you want the full (albeit fractured) picture of what went down.
"We have had so much love and support since day dot of making these movies. Without that incredible community, there would be no Spider-Man," Holland said on a video posted to social media, "To show you our appreciation, we are doing something that has never been done before."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal, is set to hit cinemas on July 31.
