Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already broken a record before it's even hit theaters

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already broken a record ahead of its release. The movie is tracking well, reportedly having the best pre-sales in five years, suggesting a positive upcoming box office.

Per Deadline, the last time a movie was tracking so well ahead of release was Spider-Man: No Way Home back in 2021. That movie went on to land the third-best opening at the box office of all time, behind Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.

Set after the events of No Way Home, when Peter Parker was erased from the memories of everyone he knows and loves, Brand New Day sees him facing a new invisible threat. The latest Marvel Studios movie sees Tom Holland return to the lead role, alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as MJ and Ned.

Sadie Sink joins the movie as an as-yet unknown character, and Marvel stars Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo star as the Punisher and the Hulk, respectively. The second trailer was recently released and gave us our first proper look at Sink's role, but didn't reveal anything more about who she was playing (which our writer thinks is a good thing).

Meanwhile, Stranger Things star Sink has admitted she was pretty surprised that there has been so much speculation about her role. Holland has also been teasing new details on the film too, saying that he's worried he'll "upset Marvel" by comparing how prepared Christopher Nolan was on the set of The Odyssey.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released on July 29 in the UK and July 31 in the US. For more, check out our guide to all of the upcoming Marvel movies and shows on the way.
