Spider-Man: Brand New Day director urges fans to see the new movie as if it's "the last Spider-Man," and now we're worried for Tom Holland's Peter Parker

Although Sony has yet to confirm whether or not Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be Tom Holland's final solo Spidey movie, a comment made by director Destin Daniel Cretton has fans worried it may be the end of the line for the MCU's web-slinger

When asked if he thinks this will be the last Spider-Man movie by Deadline, Cretton answered, "Is there ever a last Spider-Man?" before adding, "Everybody should go see this movie as if it's the last Spider-Man." Now, Cretton isn't saying that Brand New Day is the last Spider-Man movie ever, but just that fans should go and see it and support the new project as if it is the final film.

Of course, Brand New Day will not mark the end of live-action Spider-Man movies forever. Over the past 25 years, we have had three actors suit up as the hero, and we are sure there will be more to come. However, fans are worried it may be Holland's last rodeo. Tobey Maguire only had three solo Spidey movies, and Andrew Garfield starred in two. So, with Brand New Day being Holland's fourth film, could this be the end?

One thing is for sure, Cretton's comment has Marvel fans worried. "But it’s not the last Spider-Man, right?," said one fan on Twitter. However, many others just think this is Cretton's way of trying to drive ticket sales. "Guys, Destin said 'as if it’s the last Spider-Man film' not 'it’s the last Spider-Man film,'" pointed out another fan. "We've got Secret Wars coming out next year. Just think for a minute"

However, some fans think Cretton is sneakily teasing Spidey's rebirth into a different Spidey variation. Thanks to the rather bleak Spider-Man Brand New Day trailer, we already know that the new film will see Holland's hero undergo some serious bodily changes, and his eyes also turn black at one point. This has led many to believe that we will finally get to see the hero morph into Man-Spider or a Symbiote Spider-Man.

Whatever happens, it is clear that Brand New Day will kick off a whole new chapter for the hero, who is in a state of mind we have never seen him in before. Set years after his real identity was wiped from the whole world, the new movie follows Parker as he throws himself entirely into crime fighting, whilst struggling with the fact that his ex-girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) have no idea who he is.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31. For more, check out our guide on how to watch the Spider-Man movies in order, and keep up with upcoming Marvel movies.
