Spider-Man: Brand New Day's release edges ever closer. The highly anticipated movie is set to swing into theaters on July 31, so the countdown is well and truly on to its theatrical debut.
Ahead of the next Marvel Phase 6 film's arrival, there's been a steady stream of news and rumors about Spider-Man's next cinematic adventure — and I've compiled the most important bits in this article. So, whether you're looking for more information on Spider-Man 4's confirmed cast, story details, or speculation about its first trailer, this is the guide for you.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day release date
As I mentioned above, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to arrive on July 31.
Originally, Spider-Man 4 was going to swing into theaters on July 24. However, Sony and Marvel confirmed Brand New Day's release would be delayed, albeit by just seven days, in late 2025.
Filming on Spider-Man 4 began last August. Principal photography took just five months to complete, too, with Brand New Day's shooting schedule wrapping in December 2025. As long as there are no major post-production headaches, it'll still be with us later this year.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer: is there one?
No. The only official footage we've seen thus far is a behind-the-scenes look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day on day one of its shoot.
There have been lots of rumors about the trailer's eventual release, though. Last December, a low quality version of Spider-Man 4's first teaser leaked online. One month later, a fresh rumor about Brand New Day's trailer dropping later that month spread like wildfire, but ultimately proved to be incorrect. Then, fans were left baffled by the news that Spider-Man: Brand New Day's trailer wouldn't premiere during the 2026 Super Bowl.
So, when will it be with us? Reliable scooper Cryptic4KQual has indicated it could drop in March. And, with one of Sony's biggest new movies of 2026 — Project Hail Mary — landing in theaters on March 20, I wouldn't be shocked if it's released in time to run ahead of public screenings of that film. Once a trailer is unveiled, I'll update this section.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day likely cast

Full spoilers follow for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Potential spoilers also follow for Brand New Day.
Sony and Marvel haven't confirmed Spider-Man: Brand New Day's cast, but here's who I expect to see:
- Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
- Zendaya as MJ
- Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds
- Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk
- Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher
- Michael Mando as Mack Gargan/Scorpion
- Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone
- Sadie Sink as TBC
- Tramell Tillman as TBC
- Liza Colon-Reyes as TBC
Unsurprisingly, Holland is back as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) Spider-Man. Zendaya and Batalon are also confirmed to be returning as Peter Parker's first love interest Michelle Jones (aka MJ) and former bestie Ned Leeds.
Elsewhere, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature one of the original Avengers in Ruffalo's Banner/The Hulk, while Bernthal's Castle/The Punisher is also set to appear in Spider-Man 4.

Considering Spider-Man: No Way Home was something of a hard reset for the MCU's wallcrawler, there'll be plenty of new faces in Brand New Day.
The first – and arguably most intriguing – is Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. Last March, Sink reportedly signed on for Spider-Man 4 and there's lots of speculation about who she'll portray.
Indeed, legendary X-Men member Jean Grey, the antagonistic Spider Wasp deity known as Shathra, a sidekick of The Punisher called Rachel Cole-Alves, and Mayday Parker, aka the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary-Jane Watson in the comics, are just four individuals she could play.
For what it's worth, one report seemed to end speculation that Sink will portray Jean Grey in Brand New Day. Don't be shocked if her character's grand reveal is held back until the film is actually out, though.

Other star names have joined Sink on the newcomers front. Deadline has claimed The Bear's Liza Colon-Zayas has signed on in an undisclosed role, while Severance actor Tramell Tillman has been cast in a mystery role for Spider-Man 4.
Speaking of the film's antagonist – or, should I say, antagonists – Spider-Man: Brand New Day could follow No Way Home's lead by telling a story with multiple villains.
Last May, a Marvel leak indicated Spidey might face off against three primary villains. Two months later, a behind-the-scenes look at Brand New Day appeared to confirm the identity of two foes in B-list villains Tarantula and Boomerang.
Since then, we've seemingly had confirmation that Brand New Day's first official villain is Lonnie Lincoln, aka Tombstone. More recently, yet another Spider-Man 4 leak gave us our first look at the aforementioned trio of villains, as well as confirming Michael Mando will be back as Mack Gargan/Scorpion. He made a very brief cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming's mid-credits scene.
And what of other heroes – MCU or otherwise – who might show up? Andrew Garfield has denied his version of Spider-Man will appear (per Deadline) and, given how he shuns the limelight, nobody's been able to ask Tobey Maguire if his Peter Parker will appear, either.
Lastly, Charlie Cox, who's plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil, has denied that he's part of proceedings (per the Phase Hero podcast host Brandon Davis). Give Daredevil's comic book ties to Spidey and the pair briefly sharing a scene in No Way Home, though, it's not outlandish to suggest that he could have a brief cameo.
Spider-Man 4 story speculation

Full spoilers follow for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Potentially big spoilers also follow for Spider-Man 4.
While it doesn't have an official story synopsis yet, Spider-Man: Brand New Day's plot brief was recently leaked by a Marvel artbook. Its position on the MCU timeline was also seemingly confirmed and differs from another leak that suggested Spider-Man 4 will take place sometime in 2027.
Those leaks aside, there's plenty more we know — and can speculate on — about the forthcoming flick.
For starters, Spider-Man 4's title takes inspiration from the most controversial time in the Marvel hero's 80-year-plus history. Thankfully, it seems the 'Brand New Day' subtitle is the only part of that period that's been chosen for his next big-screen adventure.
That 'Brand New Day' element takes on greater significance after his last solo movie, because No Way Home ended with Spidey reverting back to being a friendly neighborhood hero.
Indeed, that movie's finale saw Doctor Strange cast a spell that made the world forget Peter Parker was Spider-Man, thereby allowing him to return to his roots before he was thrust into the superhuman limelight in Captain America: Civil War.
With no Tony Stark-created tech available to him, he's also returned to his superhero origins and created his own suit.
Last August, Tom Holland gave us our first full look at the updated suit he'll wear in Brand New Day; the full reveal coming 24 hours after a Spider-Man 4 video teased his new superhero attire. Days later, another shot confirmed Holland's new costume is inspired by the suits worn by Maguire and Garfield during their respective eras.
Given Brand New Day takes place a few years after No Way Home, Spidey has had more than enough time to grow his street-level rogues gallery, something Marvel President Kevin Feige alluded to in conversation with Collider.
Destin Daniel Cretton teases Spider-Man: Brand New Day:“It’s still the Spider-Man that everybody loves, but this is a new chapter in his life, & that tonal shift was something that was really exciting to me.“➡️ https://t.co/b6YgEfhVxJ pic.twitter.com/wS2Malch95January 21, 2026
We don't know what kind of street-level story we'll get, but it means Spider-Man: Brand New Day's will share commonalities with a specific Disney+ show — that being, season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
Chatting to Entertainment Weekly (EW), Marvel Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation Brad Winderbaum said: "We're communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there's coherence there. We don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it's important."
It doesn't sound like the projects will run parallel to each other, but Winderbaum indicated "the impacts will be felt" between them. So, while that isn't confirmation that Daredevil will appear in Spider-Man 4, these street-level productions may be more closely aligned than we realize.
What does the future hold for Spider-Man after Brand New Day?

Chatting to LadBible, Holland said he doesn't know what the future holds for him post-Brand New Day.
However, with two more Avengers films – Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars – due out this December and in December 2027, Holland should appear in one or both films. Heck, Sink is reportedly going to show up in Secret Wars so, in my view, Holland is nailed on to play a key role in the latter, too.
It'll be interesting to see if Spider-Man: Brand New Day's story runs concurrent to Doomsday or if it'll directly lead into Avengers 5. Whatever the plan, Secret Wars will lead to a soft reboot of the MCU — Feige has said this will happen — but, considering Holland is one of the MCU's biggest assets, I'd be stunned if he hangs up the mask after Avengers 6.
Sure, he can't play Peter Parker forever, but I'm convinced he's got one or two more solo films left in him. Spider-Man 5 or Spider-Man 6 would be the perfect opportunity to introduce a live-action Miles Morales to the MCU, too, with Holland mentoring him before Holland passes the torch onto his successor. Long story short: in my opinion, Holland will stick around for the foreseeable future.
