A source close to Pete Davidson has refuted his ex Elsie Hewitt’s recent claim that she has been parenting their newborn child “alone” after their break up earlier this month.
Elsie spoke on her new motherhood five months after welcoming her daughter, whom she shares with Pete, in a TikTok video shared over the weekend.
Clapping back at critics of her appearance in recent paparazzi pictures, Elsie said she is “exhausted” because she’s taking care of her child.
“That’s not what I’m thinking about right now”, Elsie said of her appearance.
“I have a baby to take care of, and I also have to work and make money, and I’m doing it on my own, which is hard,” she added.
Elsie and Pete reportedly split in mid-May, just over a year after they first started dating and five months after their first child, Scottie Rose Hewitt, was born.
According to People, Elsie ‘liked’ a TikTok comment on her video where a user said “not staying with your partner” when they are postpartum “is insanely loser behaviour”.
Fans’ concerns about Elsie’s solo parenting were only heightened when she shared an Instagram Story looking for an “assistant” or “nanny-type” who could “basically [be a] right hand person” while raising her child.
Soon after the social media posts, a source close to Pete refuted the commentary about his involvement in parenting Scottie in a statement to People.
“Pete has made himself extremely available and has provided full financial support. Pete is actually covering all Scottie costs and more,” the insider claimed. “He is hoping Elsie has good health and success for the sake of their daughter.”
It comes after reports of a messy split between Elsie and Pete, with a source claiming last week that the pair “are not getting along” but are “trying to work through” how they will be “be able to co-parent” Scottie.
Elsie announced her pregnancy on social media last year, sharing pics of herself and Pete with the caption, “Welp, now everyone knows we had sex.”
Pete has previously dated Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Margaret Qualley and Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor.
