Special Forces ditch booze for tea and choose plant-based food over meat

SAS booze-ups may soon be up the spout – as the heroes go teapotty.

And it’s vegan courses for Special Forces as many of them are ditching meat for plant-based food.

The change of habits is revealed in a survey of spending at regimental shops.

They’re now selling more fruit teabags, mineral water and soft drinks than beer, wine and spirits. And a source said vegan numbers are growing among troops in the SAS and Special Boat Service.

Our insider said: “There was always the occasional non-drinker and vegetarian but now there are well over 100. Guys started wanting a non-meat alternative for lunch and dinner.

“It’s the same in the messes. Younger guys are now asking for a camomile tea instead of a lager. They all need to keep themselves in prime condition.”

Many ditched meat while on covert operations in hot countries. Last year ex-SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton revealed he’s gone veggie.

The Ministry of Defence said: “Healthy living and fitness in the Armed Forces is of vital importance.”
