A rare 50p coin has sold for £165 on eBay. The coin was released in 2009 to mark 250 years since the opening of Kew Gardens.
The Royal Mint estimates that around 210,000 of the coins, which features a design of the famous Chinese Pagoda, were made. According to its eBay listing, the "Fifty Pence 50p 2009 - Kew Gardens Genuine" had a stating price of just 99p, the Liverpool Echo reports.
But following a 32-way bidding war, the price soon jumped up and up, with one seller getting their hands on it for £165 - 330 times its face value. Change checking website Coin Hunter puts the average resale price for the Kew Gardens 50p between £150.89 and £161.50.
