OK, we may have all gotten a little too excited about Spatial computing in 2024. I’ll certainly admit that I did. Whenever I catch a glimpse of the future of computing, I can’t help but get hyped — it’s why I love this job.
But when the cold light of reality hits, you start to realize that it’s not all it's cooked up to be. And you can see it in everything that’s happening. Meta has stuck rigidly to talking about having fun on its Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets with games and binge watching. Apple Vision Pro production has been cut and the Cupertino crew is reportedly working with Sony to bring PSVR 2 controller support for (yep, you guessed it) games.
