British expats in Spain have been issued an update regarding energy bills as the cost of living rises across Europe, as well as the UK.
While the UK is facing the highest inflation rate in 40 years, holiday destinations across Europe are also struggling with prices rising. Spain's inflation rate hit 10.2 per cent in June, the highest level in 37 years.
Benidorm Town Hall have announced a one-off payment to help those aged 65 and over with electricity bills, according to Alicante Today. The grant can be applied for through the local authority and Alicante Provincial Council in person or online with the deadline of August 26 with each eligible applicant set to receive at least €50.

Benidorm Mayor Toni Perez said: "This new aid aims to prevent energy poverty.
"At a time when the cost of the average shopping basket continue to rise, and a month after month energy prices escalate, there is a great economic uncertainty and it is vital we support our senior citizens who have been the mainstay in many moments of crisis"
To apply, applicants must be over 65-years and registered living in Benidorm for the last five years permanently.
