SpaceX is making progress with the loading of propellant for its upcoming rocket launch, as announced on the social media platform X. The propellant being loaded consists of liquid methane and superchilled liquid oxygen, also known as LOX, which acts as the oxidizer for the rocket. These propellants are pumped into the rocket from nearby storage tanks.
The sheer volume of propellant being loaded is staggering, with the rocket capable of holding millions of pounds of fuel and oxidizer. The Super Heavy rocket alone has the capacity to store up to 8 million pounds (equivalent to 3,700 metric tons) of propellant. Additionally, the Starship spacecraft can carry an additional 3 million pounds (1,500 metric tons) of propellant.
