Southampton are ‘willing to listen’ to offers for Scotland forward Che Adams, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook. The Sun claimed on Monday that Leeds United are lining up a move for the Scotland international, who is expected to fall further down the pecking order at St Mary’s following Sekou Mara’s arrival from Bordeaux.
The report adds that the Whites would be open to doing business at around £10m, although it is claimed that Southampton are looking for more. Nevertheless, there is optimism that a compromise figure can be reached as Jesse Marsch looks to add quality and competition for Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt in the number nine role.
Bamford shone in United’s 6-2 victory over Cagliari on Sunday evening, scoring twice for the Whites as they closed pre-season in style. However, Bamford missed the majority of last term due to injury and amassed just 10 appearances for the Whites. Gelhardt has also penned a new long-term deal at Elland Road but an extra addition at centre-forward is still needed.
Leeds were previously linked with Adams in January 2020 but Marcelo Bielsa’s offer of a loan fee plus a £20m permanent deal was rejected by Saints.

Adams initially struggled at Southampton and failed to score in any of his first 24 matches in the Premier League. He eventually got off the mark with an incredible 40-yard lob in a 1-0 win over Manchester City in July 2020 and added three more goals before the end of the campaign.
He formed a telepathic partnership with Danny Ings during his second season at St Mary’s – registering nine goals and five assists in 36 appearances. Adams scored a further seven times last season but hasn’t found the net in the Premier League since February.
