Premier League leaders Arsenal reverted to the starting XI which began last weekend’s win over Leeds for the visit to Southampton. Gabriel Martinelli was passed fit to start after illness meant he was only available to come off the bench during Thursday’s Europa League win over PSV Eindhoven.
Southampton top scorer Che Adams, who claimed the winner in the midweek victory at Bournemouth, dropped to the bench as one of three changes for the hosts. Lyanco, Ibrahima Diallo and Stuart Armstrong returned for Saints, with Kyle Walker-Peters out injured and the on-loan Ainsley Maitland-Niles ineligible against his parent club.
