Southampton have confirmed manager Ruben Selles will be charge for Sunday's Premier League match at home to Liverpool - before departing the club.
Selles was named Southampton's interim boss in February after Nathan Jones was sacked after just three months in the St Mary's hotseat. But the 39-year-old has been unable to keep the Saints in the top flight.
And the club confirmed today that Selles will not be handed the opportunity to lead a Championship charge. A statement read: "Southampton Football Club can confirm that it has held conversations with men’s first team Manager, Ruben Selles, and decided that his contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of the season.

"The club wants to place on record its thanks to Ruben for taking on the managerial position at a difficult time for the club and for giving his all as we attempted to stay in the Premier League.
"Ruben will take charge of the team for the final game against Liverpool on Sunday at St Mary’s. We wish him all the best for his future career."
With little to play for other than pride this weekend, basement boys Southampton have the opportunity to end what has been a poor campaign on a high note. Liverpool, meanwhile, will not know what's at stake until Manchester United's match at home to Chelsea on Thursday. If United draw or win, it will end any hope Jurgen Klopp's side have of qualifying for the Champions League.
Russell Martin is expected to be appointed as the Saints' permanent boss. He will arrive with previous Football League experience at MK Dons and current club Swansea City.
Martin, who spent the majority of his playing career at Norwich City, guided the Swans to a 15th-placed finish in his first season before narrowly missing out on the play-offs in 10th this time around.
