Music fans are in for a summer blast of poptastic hits as South Tyneside Festival announces its mega line-up which iconic boybands, a TV star and an Abba tribute band.
Boyzlife - made up of former boyband favourites Brian McFadden of Westlife and Boyzone’s Keith Duffy - are set to draw the crowds during this July's free series of concerts in South Tyneside alongside singer and actor Jason Donovan and Björn Again, who have been performing Abba hits now for three decades. Another big name on the newly-revealed bill is The Vamps.
Organisers of the festival, which will run through August too, say this year's Sunday programme of outdoor concerts at Bents Park in South Shields, which attract up to 20,000 people each year, is one of the best yet. The first in the series will be The Vamps, with the British pop band kicking off the summer entertainment on July 9, along with guests Henry Moodie and The Waiters

The following Sunday, July 16, will see Jason Donovan take to the stage to perform some of his best loved hits from across the years, with support from Two Metres Apart and Drum Young. Then it will be the turn of Björn Again to get the crowds on their feet on July 23, with some help from Discography and Shelley Stevens.
The final show of the month , on July 30, will see Boyzlife in action, with The Moobs and Sound Cartel also on the billand ahead of all that there will more music to set the festival mood with the likes of live events at Sandhaven Amphitheatre throughout June, including brass band concerts as well as Proms in the Park.
A festival highlight is always the colourful Summer Parade which will take place this year on July 1.
Coun Pat Hay, Mayor of South Tyneside, said: “Every year we are delighted to announce fantastic performers and a packed programme of events. This year is certainly no exception and we have some absolutely incredible acts - all of which have an international reputation - who will be appearing at Bents Park."
She added: “There’s something for people of all ages and we imagine that once again we will see record crowds every Sunday.” Admission to the festival, which is supported by a range of local sponsors, is free. But, for those keen to have guaranteed access on the day, there is also a limited number of priority tickets available for £6 from Ticketmaster - on sale up to seven days before the concerts - and a Shop @ The Word, in South Shields, up to noon on the day before the perfromance.
