A deaf social worker from South Tyneside has opened up on the daily challenges she faces due to her communication needs - but stressed she doesn't want sympathy or pity.
Claire Hoggeth works as a social worker at Durham County Council and has spoken about her experiences of being deaf and her role in supporting other people with hearing loss.
In her role, Claire supports deaf people and British Sign Language users with hearing loss to live as independently as they can. She provides information, advice, and support around all aspects of deafness, including language and communication, assistive equipment and technology, and social and emotional wellbeing.
