A man was smashed over the head with a vase or bottle and had flowers and water thrown over him in bed after his boyfriend accused him of infidelity.
Robbie Smallwood turned violent towards his partner after they returned home from a night out drinking. He left him with a large wound to his head before trying to push him down some stairs.
Newcastle Crown Court heard it was on August 9 last year that the couple had been out and they got back around 12.30am. Vince Ward, prosecuting, said: "At home, the defendant accused the victim of infidelity. The victim cut the conversation short and said they would speak about it in the morning and he went to bed.
