South London residents fear squatters could start fire after breaking into their building

Croydon residents fear there is a heightened risk of fire at their housing block after squatters broke into a communal area, leaving debris near fuse boxes and plugging in their own heaters.

Rubbish can be seen scattered around the room inside their block near Norwood Junction station after a “takeover” by what appear to be homeless people. Residents of Poet’s Court on Clifford Road, South Norwood, have urged landlord L&Q to act quickly to keep the intruders out of the block of 23 social housing flats, after new locks were repeatedly broken.
