Plans to introduce a London-wide tourist tax have been backed by a south London borough.
During a meeting of Southwark Council on July 9, Lib Dem councillors initially proposed a motion for the introduction of a voluntary, £2-a-night levy specifically for the borough. Opposition councillors believe the tax could see millions of pounds raised in revenue to support the upkeep of the area.
