There are a plethora of events taking place in and around South Gloucestershire this week to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Residents and communities will be able to get involved in everything from street parties to beacon lighting, library events and more.
To help local communities come together to celebrate such a momentous historical event, South Gloucestershire Council waived charges for street parties and events in public open spaces and also supported 30 community Jubilee events with a combined total of £50,000 in grant funding. There will be more than 100 road closures for the events and activities taking place during the extended Bank Holiday weekend.
You can find full details of all road closures in South Gloucestershire on the council's website or by scrolling down for a copy of the full list. And for those communities who are hosting a street party, the council has put together some advice and guidance to help save money, reduce waste, support local produce and protect the environment here.

These include school holiday craft sessions with a Jubilee theme, as well as a Royal themed coffee morning and specific Jubilee events.
Many of the library Jubilee activities are free but they do require to be booked in advance. Full Jubilee library activity details and booking instructions are available online here.
Councillor Rachael Hunt, cabinet member responsible for communities at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee presents a superb opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate this remarkable milestone in her historic reign. On behalf of the council, I would like to express our thanks and appreciation to everyone who has contributed towards organising an event or activity for the Jubilee in our communities.
"Positive actions such as this really make a difference and would not be possible without your involvement. I hope that residents and communities across South Gloucestershire enjoy the variety of events and activities available over the extended Bank Holiday weekend.”
